NRMLC is currently in the process of hiring interns for upcoming semesters.
We give preference to students in the Comic Arts major at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. All positions are unpaid internships.
We're not profitable.
We literally can't afford to pay you.
We will get you college credit if your school does that sort of thing.
If this is a problem for you, please stop reading now and come back when we have paid positions hopefully later this year.
For all positions, email whatever you think is useful to hello@nrm.lc.
NRMLC is a small press comics publisher based in Minneapolis, MN. We currently publish the Zine of the Month Club, a monthly zine where we publish a book from a highlighted artist each month. We started doing this in January, 2014, and intend to continue throughout 2015 as a minimum.
Current projects that NRMLC is planning to publish in 2014:
Currently, our capacity is limited almost entirely by staffing and a lack of cash flow. NRMLC does not have the money to hire a real staff and I (Josh Kaplan) don't have time to do more projects on my own. This is where you, the potential intern, come in.
Alright, so here is the deal:
I've been spending some quality time figuring out which parts of NRMLC are the weakest. They are as follows:
Luckily for me, these are all things that are pretty easy to get interns for. It's 2014. Everyone's good at Twitter and Tumblr. Especially students! The Youth will help me get the followers I need to properly sell my books!
You are a student, preferably at MCAD (I've already done the paperwork there), interested in joining a small-press publisher that I really hope will grow into something good. You are really good at the internet. You have a Tumblr account. You have a Twitter account. You are familiar with "weird twitter." You have talked to at least three (3) brands on Twitter. You own your own computer that is probably capable of running InDesign.
Preferably, you will be in the Twin Cities for the majority of the internship. The social media parts can be done remotely, but I'd prefer that you're local so that you can help with the bookmaking parts.
Email me at hello@nrm.lc. Send whatever you think is relevant. I don't care about résumés, but you can send it if you want me to look it over for you.
Probably the most relevant things are your Twitter, Tumblr, and a quick synopsis about yourself. Follow your heart. If I like you and want more, I'll ask for it.
All applicants will receive a response, regardless of whether or not they are selected. So be aware of that.
That's it. If you've got questions, email me at hello@nrm.lc and I will answer them. I love you all! Good luck!
